What can I and can't I do during a Juice Cleanse?

Can I eat anything during a juice cleanse?

The cleanses we offer are made to curb your appetite while giving you sustained energy to function throughout the day. That is why we recommend that you stick with the supplied juices. However, if you feel like you need to eat something, then snacking on clean, raw, organic foods is totally permissible.

This may include fruits or vegetables such as apples, carrots, or celery sticks. Snacking on raw almonds is okay too. Just remember to keep it clean, organic, and in small portions.

All our cleanses come with a list of foods you can eat to help you stay on track.

Can I exercise during a juice cleanse?

Most certainly! There is no need to eliminate exercise from your daily routine. Besides, staying active can improve your nutrient absorption as well as accelerate the cleansing of toxins by getting your lymphatic system flowing.

However, try to avoid engaging in strenuous or high-intensity exercise. Exerting too much force on your body while consuming fewer calories could leave you experiencing weakness, fatigue, or dehydration. Instead, take this time to listen to your body and slow down. Engage in light forms of exercise such as walking or gentle Pilates. Doing so will still leave you feeling great without having to go over the top.

That being said, it is important to note that during a juice cleanse you will consume fewer calories. Thus, please gauge your energy levels and adjust your exercise accordingly. Recognize that deciding to do a juice cleanse is already a massive commitment in itself! So don't push yourself, take it easy, and let the cleanse do the work.

Can I drink coffee during a juice cleanse?

Ideally, you'll be avoiding all caffeine during the cleanse. This means your relationship with coffee will need to be put on hold.

One of the benefits of a juice cleanse is improving the quality of your sleep. However, the caffeine in coffee acts as an adenosine blocker and adenosine is a molecule that helps us sleep! Hence, drinking coffee will prevent you from experiencing the full benefits of our juice cleanses.

If you are a heavy coffee drinker, we strongly recommend gradually reducing your caffeine intake in the lead-up to your cleanse. Doing so will help reduce the intensity of cleansing symptoms.

If you notice symptoms of caffeine withdrawal during the cleanse, having some herbal tea can help alleviate the symptoms.

Can I drink alcohol during a juice cleanse? 

Not if you want the very best results. Drinking alcohol only adds toxins into your body; the very substances a juice cleanse assists your body in removing! As a result, this can slow down the cleansing process and counteract the anti-inflammatory properties of the blends.

Should I drink water during a Juice Cleanse?

Drink PLENTY of water - both in the lead-up to and during the juice cleanse. Staying hydrated not only helps flush out all the unwanted toxins in your body but is also extremely important for your overall health. On top of that, water has a crucial role in carrying nutrients to cells around the body, keeping them alive and healthy. By taking in water regularly throughout the whole cleanse, you are enabling the influx of nutrients and vitamins in the juices to get to where they need to in your body. This will also quicken the results you may see, such as increased energy and better digestion.

Although drinking water is key to good health (and a successful juice cleanse), there's no need to guzzle it. Drink reasonable amounts of water consistently throughout the day. You may find that drinking water can also help settle down any feelings of hunger that some may experience.

Can I heat up the juices?

Preferably, try to drink it cold. You'll be benefiting the most from the juices when they are consumed cold, fresh, and straight out of the fridge. However, if you feel the need to warm the juices up, that's fine too.
You can enjoy the juices as a tea by adding warm or hot water to them.

Try to avoid microwaving them, though, as high temperatures can destroy the nutrients in the blends. Many nutrients are easily reduced or even destroyed when exposed to heat. One of which is Vitamin C. With many of our juices being rich in Vitamin C from the use of citrus fruits, heating these juices will prevent you from gaining the maximum amount of nutrients possible.

If you find it hard to drink the juices cold, leave it out at room temperature for a bit before drinking it, and drink slowly!

After the Juice Cleanse

It may be tempting to indulge in all the food you've been craving straight after your juice cleanse, but try not to cave in! At this point, your digestive system has been resting and rejuvenating, so it will need some time to adjust to take in solid foods again. On the first day after the cleanse, try starting with smaller meals, perhaps eating softer, easy-to-swallow foods like porridge or soup. Doing so will help ease your body into having more solid foods and larger meals. Avoid eating large meals straight away as it might make you feel nauseated and uncomfortable.

After the period of transitioning back to solid foods, make sure to incorporate highly nutritious foods into your diet. This is important! Consume lots of fruits and vegetables. Doing so will provide your body with enough fibre needed to keep your digestion moving along and healthy. Eat foods containing healthy fats and proteins so that your body can maintain its metabolic health and gives you sustained energy to function after the cleanse. While everyone's diet is different, the key is to stick to healthy foods. It would be a real shame to spoil all the hard work you've put in with overly processed foods or excessive amounts of fats and sugars!
